Don't throw away that ink jet or laser printer cartridge! You can recycle it and earn "cash for trash" to benefit the library. Drop your cartridge in one of the cartridge recycling boxes located in the library, the Campus Book Store, or at the Housing office.
The library earns $1 for each ink jet cartridge, and from 50 cents to $2.50 for each laser printer cartridge. All proceeds benefit the library.
Recycle First, the New Hampshire-based firm that handles the recycling, targets ink jet cartridges from HP and Canon, the manufacturers holding the largest share of the cartridge market. A variety of laser printer cartridges are also accepted for recycling. See what catridges are eligible.
Recyclers can toss their cartridges on the spot or take a postage-paid mailer to use later. There is no cost to the library to conduct this program, but there is the opportunity to reduce waste and raise money at the same time.
